Procurement Methods For Completed Builds

Once your upfit is complete, we offer multiple ways to acquire the finished vehicles based on your operational needs.

Ideal for businesses looking to own assets long-term with capital ready to deploy. Get full control of the vehicle from day one.

Rent

Learn More
Our sister company, City Rent a Truck, provides the rental path for completed builds upfitted by City Truck Equipment. If you’re looking for a customized unit but don’t need it long term, renting is an ideal option.

Rental Purchase Option (RPO)

Learn More
Want to test a build before fully committing? With an RPO, you can put a new upfit to work now and apply a percentage of your rental payments toward ownership if you decide to purchase. It’s also a flexible way to bridge capex budget timing while still building equity.

Lease Through Finance Partner

Learn More
We can sell the completed units directly to your finance partner, so you can lease them back. Get the trucks you need—spec’d your way—while staying aligned with your current leasing setup.
Whether you need help sourcing the chassis, planning the build, or choosing the right acquisition path, our team is here to help.

Our Upfit Team in Action

Get a glimpse at what our upfit team can do for your business!

We needed 30 heavily customized utility trucks on a tight timeline, but our capex funds hadn’t refreshed and we still needed to secure chassis. CTE put together a flexible plan using chassis they already had on the ground, which helped keep the timeline moving. They turned all 30 units in less than 15 days and structured the deal as an RPO, which let us get the trucks into service immediately while pushing the purchase into a later budget cycle. Once our capex budget refreshed a few months later, we exercised the purchase option with a rental credit built in.

How it Works: A set percentage of your monthly rental payments builds direct equity and applies as a credit toward the final purchase price if you decide to buy. Unlike a traditional lease-to-own structure, there is no forced buyout at the end of the term. If your needs change or you choose not to execute the purchase, you can simply turn the vehicle back in.

Program Guidelines: Minimum rental terms typically apply depending on your specific truck configuration. Your dedicated account manager will customize the exact terms to fit your operational needs and review them with you during your initial consultation.
Yes. We frequently build master fleet orders where a client purchases core assets outright, utilizes our Rental Purchase Option (RPO) for specialized vocational builds to preserve capital, and brings their own chassis for standard upfits. Your account manager will structure a single, unified master contract detailing each asset’s specific path.
We maintain a rolling inventory of late-model commercial chassis ranging from light-duty pickups to heavy-duty vocational trucks. Because our physical inventory moves fast to support upcoming builds, our exact mix shifts daily.

Our core stock program covers Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles from the industry’s primary manufacturers:

Light to Medium-Duty (Class 1–5): Regular stock of Ford, Chevrolet/GMC, and RAM chassis cabs, optimized for standard service beds, flatbeds, and mechanics bodies.

Heavy-Duty Vocational (Class 6–8): Premium heavy-duty platforms, including Peterbilt single, tandem, and tri-axle chassis, built to handle high-payload applications like heavy cranes, dump trucks, and roll-offs.

If the exact wheelbase, cab-to-axle (CA) measurement, or brand you need is not currently on our lots in Kansas City, Atlanta, Houston, or St. Louis, we can source it rapidly. We leverage a nationwide dealer network to bypass traditional OEM factory delays and keep your upfit timeline tight.

While our primary upfit hubs are located in Kansas City, Atlanta, Houston, and St. Louis, we handle vehicle logistics and turn-key delivery for commercial fleets nationwide.

Whether you drop-ship your chassis directly to our facilities or have us source the inventory, we can coordinate final delivery straight to your job site or corporate yard anywhere in the country
